Job Description

  • A nursery in Gamston are looking for a Level 3 Nursery Nurse to join their team.

    40 hours per week (between the times of 730am to 6pm)

    Annual salary is £25,541

    28 days holiday including bank holidays

    Job Description:

    1. To be directly responsible to the Nursery Manager in all matters concerning the Nursery whilst also providing moral support to your team leader and the Manager in all matters concerning the Nursery.

    2. To work in partnership with the management team and other team members regarding the day to day running of the nursery, ensuring that emotional stress is minimised by creating a welcoming, secure and ordered environment including when necessary the taking of fees.

    3. To ensure at induction and periodically throughout your time at the nursery that you familiarize yourself with and adhere to all policies and procedures with particular reference to:

    · Safeguarding and Child Protection including British Values, The Prevent Duty and Whistle Blowing

    · Staff suitability and notification of changes in circumstances

    · Inclusion and Equality

    · Special Educational Needs and Disability

    · Fire Safety and Evacuation

    · Supporting attachment, behaviour and attitudes

    · Health and Safety including Risk Assessment, Administering Medicines, First Aid and Food Handling

    · Professional Development and Performance Management

    · Curriculum and Assessment

    · Teaching and Learning

    · Comments, Complaints and Compliments

    4. To give prior notice, whenever possible of any absence in order that alternative arrangements can be made.

    To understand the importance of recognizing the need to be open and honest about personal health and wellbeing in order to undertake the role effectively and gain the right level of support.

    5. To undertake tasks as delegated by your team leader whilst maintaining good working relationships and working effectively as part of a team. To be sensitive to the needs of others at all times whilst not divulging personal information and keeping all matters in relation to salaries confidential.

    6. To be flexible enough in order to meet the needs of the Nursery. This includes being prepared to work with any age band in any room and to undertake responsibility of any groups in the absence of the team leaders. This may also involve with agreement the opportunity to work/cover at another Paper Moon Nursery within a reasonable distance.

    7. To ensure that every effort is made to develop and maintain good relationships with other staff and Parents/Carers and to liaise confidently with Parents/Carers, making minor decisions in line with policies of the Nursery and in support of the Manager’s beliefs.

    8. To respect the confidentiality of Parents/Carers and all other matters regarding the nursery. To respect and keep confidential all matters that are offered to you in confidence unless this affects the safety and welfare of a child.

    9. To adhere to all regulations relating to GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations)

    10. To ensure that any apprentices, voluntary workers or students are supported and supervised, giving help with all training requirements.

    11. To welcome constructive advice and support as an opportunity to enhance practice and therefore improve outcomes for children, participating actively in supervision/peer observations and appraisal processes. Making yourself available to undertake at least two training courses applicable to your post or duties per annum.

    12. To attend monthly team meetings. Any absence must be supported with a reasonable explanation and apology to the Manager or ‘Chair’ of the meeting.

    13. To contribute to the development of the Nursery including reflecting on practice and participating actively in contributing to the Self Evaluation process.

    14. To contribute, when necessary to all records required in relation to: the building, equipment, health and safety requirements etc, ensuring all entries are accurate and discuss actions taken if necessary.

    15. To ensure and enforce good standards of hygiene in personal habits and the general nursery routine.

    · To ensure that all toilets and baby changing areas are kept clean.

    · To ensure that children’s nappies are checked frequently and changed as and when required.

    · To ensure that equipment and toys are frequently washed and, if necessary, sterilised.

    · To ensure that the staff room, messy area, outside area and store cupboards are kept clean and tidy.
