  • G69: Modern Apprentice in Out of School Care Setting

    Would you like to earn as you learn?

    Our client has a number of Out of School Care provisions across the Baillieston area and they are looking for motivated and enthusiastic people to join their friendly team. This would be an excellent opportunity for you to work for a committed employer who will pay you a competitive salary and support you in your training and beyond.

    You will undertake an apprenticeship in childcare to complete the SVQ3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF level 7. Therefore, on completion you will become a qualified childcare practitioner.

    Hours will be 16 hours per week which includes your shifts from 2.45 to 5.45 Monday to Friday (15 hours) PLUS 1 hour paid for planning activities and on line training courses.

    You will be offered a competitive apprenticeship salary ranging from £8 to £11.44 (depending on experience).

    The role will involve:

    •  a part-time position in an after school setting where you will learn and train how to deliver effective care and learning
    • full training programme learning from the employer and training provider
    • -working as part of a team
    • developing care and pedagogical skills to support each individual child's care and learning needs
    • designing and delivering learning experiences to develop each child
    • supporting the workings of the childcare setting
    • developing knowledge of theory and child development
    • understanding the theory and practice around Getting It Right For Every Child
    • developing your knowledge of frameworks in relation to early learning and childcare.


    Alongside this role the successful candidate will also be supported and guided through their qualification. This will include:

    • Regular meetings with your allocated SVQ assessor;
    • Continuous support via phone, email and online;
    • Monthly training sessions;
    • Assistance in completing written work to support your accreditation and competencies in each area of your qualification


    .The qualification will be delivered by Tinies Glasgow Training Centre (SQA accredited). On completion you will gain the SVQ3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF level 7 and Workplace Core Skills.

    Successful candidates will be required to offer 2 satisfactory references and undergo PVG and SSSC registration.

    Candidates must be enthusiastic and committed to delivering high quality childcare to all children.

    Candidates do not require to have any professional childcare experience however you must be able to show a clear passion for working with children and promoting their development.
